Erin & Matt’s Colorado Winter Engagement
“Snow was falling, so much like stars filling the dark trees that one could easily imagine its reason for being was nothing more than prettiness.” -Mary Oliver
The endless beauty of snow, the never-ending photographic inspiration, the glittering romance of it… we couldn’t have been happier that Erin and Matt were also enamored by the idea of a winter wonderland shoot. This Colorado winter engagement session was planned tentatively – we wanted to ensure a white paradise for our snow loving couple! Luckily, our first scheduled day was perfection.
Mathew and I woke up and peaked out our bedroom window in anticipation. Siri had told us there would be some snow, but you never know when you’re asking a digital device. The windowpane appeared to be the life-sized glass of a snow globe. Large, feathery flakes glided toward the silvery pavement. Our tentative date had landed on the perfect snowy day! We bundled up – layers upon layers of warmth – then headed toward the Evergreen Lake House.
The scene upon arrival was simply picturesque. Untouched snow blanketed the trees and ground alike. Erin and Matt sweetly held onto each other as they took the very first steps in the fresh snow, creating their very own pearlescent path. Our session continued as this adorable couple meandered through the evergreens, keeping each other warm all the while. As nature lovers, these fiancés were quite at home in the snowy landscape. Their summer wedding will be quite the opposite of this winter affair, as far as weather is concerned, that is. This couple’s sweetness and warmth will emanate whether it’s mid December or June, but it’s clear that the romance of snow suites their love quite well;
“I wonder if the snow loves the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently?” -Lewis Carroll
