Charles & Kursten Denver Winter Engagement
Photography by Mathew Irving – Written by Ariel Irving
Ah… the morning of Super Bowl, 2014 in downtown Denver. We could see crowds bustling in and out of our local grocery store as we drove by. We were impressed by the gigantic banners arching over The Mile High City’s Larimer Street. We were shocked by the orange and blue painted face Exiting The Market. But don’t worry! This is a story of what occurred before the 2014 Super Bowl game was played. What occurred once the game was played shall not be mentioned. Super Bowl morning set the scene of Kursten and Charles’ Denver Winter engagement session, but this adorable couple stole the show.
Kursten works in finance. Charles is an entrepreneur – of beer – hand crafted beer. Yeah, their Estes Park wedding will be fun. And we had fun photographing for their Save the Dates too! We even made use of Larimer Square’s skating rink… without even using skates. The rink’s beautiful evergreens and strand lights made for a gorgeous backdrop. But our favorite location of the day was the Wynkoop footbridge. The sun streamed between the bridge’s structural beams at just the right angle for an epic-romantic sun flair, and the flanking structures framed this adorable couple perfectly. Nothing says engagement romance like a rusting industrial bridge (OK, maybe it doesn’t scream classic romance, but it screams modern romance nonetheless). Then there was Commons Park. It served as the perfect wintery venue for our couple’s handmade wooden “save the date” hearts. Kursten and Charles even asked to play with the freezing snow, sans gloves. How cute can a couple get? We just can’t wait to photograph their relaxed mountain wedding. Thank you Kursten and Charles for creating Irving Photography’s own Cuteness Bowl of 2014. We will look back on February 2 with only the fondest of memories thanks to you!
